Fun upcoming events of YA interest this summer. Mark your calendar and join us and these authors!

Chris Colfer of Glee fame is a middle-grade author. Even though his books are a little younger than YA, some of you might be interested in meeting him and getting his new book, The Land of Stories, Book 4: Beyond the Kingdoms. He won’t be signing any Glee or other memorabilia. Check out the event details and rules here.

Friday, July 17 at 7PM
Mary E. Pearson, author of The Heart of Betrayal, the second book in The Remnant Chronicles. Princess Lia is a captive in the hostile kingdom of Venda, where she, Rafe, and Kaden, have a complicated and uneasy relationship with the Komizar, the unpredictable and sly ruler of Venda.

Tuesday, July 28 at 7PM
Ernest Kline, author of Ready Player One and his new book Armada. While both these books are published for adults, but we know you – our teen customers – love Ready Player One, too!

News from Hollywood!

There seems to be some Hollywood-John Green news every day. Here’s the latest –

Paper Towns simulcast with the cast & John! Being called a Night on the Towns, this special event on July 23, will take place at movie theaters across the country. The major cast members, John, the director, and producer will participate in the simulcast. Fans who attend this event will be treated to musical performances as well as some cool Paper Towns swag. John recently talked about this event and how excited he is. Check out all the details and get your tickets!
Psst – for Austin area residents, the only participating Austin theaters are Cinemark Hill Country Galleria and Cinemark Tinseltown 20 + X D Pflugerville.
Don’t forget – read it before you see it!

Looking for Alaska, John’s first book, has at long last finally found it’s director and production is moving forward. Becca Thomas is going to direct the adaptation written by the team who adapted The Fault in Our Stars. In the same tumblr post about his excitement over the Night on the Towns event, John also talks about his complicated and long relationship with the Looking for Alaska movie deal.

Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances, a short story collection from John, Lauren Myrcale, and Maureen Johnson is being made into a movie and already has a release date of December 9, 2016. I suspect we will hear a lot more about the production in the year to come.
