The colorful, playful, and just simply joyous mind of William Joyce has created a plethora of beautiful adventures both on screen and on the page.
Author, illustrator and filmmaker William Joyce has covered all the bases when it comes to entertaining our kids. There’s his Guardians of Childhood book series, A Day with Wilbur Robinson, and the book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs which were all later adapted to screen, written and produced by Joyce, in the form of Rise of the Guardians, Meet the Robinsons, and Epic, respectively. He’s won three Emmys for his work with the book-based television series Rolie Polie Olie.
His works are just so creative and fun and can’t help but captivate the imaginations of anyone, any age.
At the 2012 Academy Awards, Joyce was honored with an Oscar for Best Short Animated Film for his enchantingly wonderful, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. It’s yet another one of his lovely children’s books turned to film. It is just thoroughly delightful.
Inspired in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, “Morris Lessmore” is a story of people who devote their lives to books and books who return the favor. (Moonbot Studios)
All of this to say that we are happy, happy, happy to have William Joyce here in store tonight (Tuesday, October 22) at 7PM with his latest book, The Mischievians.
The Mischievians is both adorable and oddly therapeutic. Wouldn’t we all be a little happier thinking that the all of life’s little hiccups were actually the fault of an ancient race of global mischief-makers? I know I would.
Just to make things even more fun, we’ll be screening The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore up on the second floor with flavored popcorn before William Joyce speaks. Afterwards, he’ll sign copies of your books.
We can’t wait for you to join us for this fun filled night. But of course, you know who to blame if you have trouble finding your car keys.
